Current server was in 4.6x, it was reinstalled (fresh install) to 6.01. The fresh install include reinstalltion OS (NT 4), Sysmantec anti virus with agents for Notes (version 8, and 3.1 respectively), Veritas Backup exec is 8.5.
Now I plan to upgrade inplace to Win 2000, and Domino to 6.5 and install Sametime.
I need some advice on this matter.
How should I go about doing it, any gotcha that I must look out for.
Thanks
Subject: Can I use Backup Exec 8.5 with Domino 6.5?
We also used BE 8.5 with Domino 5 in the past. When moving to R6 I had to migrate BE from 8.5 to 9.0. The reason was that Domino R6 was no more supported by the V8.5 of BackupExec. Tests showed that it is in fact not possible to access an Domino R6 server by a Backup Exec version earlier than 9.0.Bad for the budget.

Can you tell me more on the test?
Currently, I am using Backupexec 8.5 in backing up Notes databases daily … no error message at all

Well, that surprises me. As we had the test done the connectivity from the Backup Exec server to the Lotus_Notes/Domino-Agent failed. The Veritas support told us that this version of BE is no more compatible to R6 Domino servers. Have a look at the Veritas Knowledge Base http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/236969.htm for compatability information with BE 8.5. Also you should read the TechNote ID: 258869.
How do you do your backup of the Domino servers, via an agent or offline?
BTW: Our expirience with BE and the related Notes/Domino-Agent shows that it is relatively slow when backing up the LN-DB’s. The throughput rate is about 100 MB/min, sometimes even less. Normal throughput in our environment is about 500 MB/min using DLT-IV streamers. How is yours?

I place backupex on the Domino server itself.with openfile agent, and domino agent
It backup 36 GB in 3 hours so. Througput is about 180MB/min.
Server is a DELL 2600, backup is a DLT tape.
