It looks to me like Directory Assitance uses the users entryDN name in ldap as the Notes user name by default.
Is this true? If so, how can I change the Notes User name without moving the user to another ldap container?

Siteminder has this capibility. You set a LDAP entry to the Notes name then let Siteminder know where that entry is. Siteminder will then map that entry as the Notes username.
Frankly, I don’t want to use Siteminder. Too many moving parts.
