Can I change encryption level?

Apologetic: This is a novice question, but I’m looking into it for some political reasons. I’m neither an admin nor the son of an admin.

My ID was created on a remote R8 environment but the local app server is R6.5.x. The encryption is 128 instead of 64. Can the ID be easily adjusted back to 64?

Subject: That depends on your security policy settings

When you change your password, you can pick the ID file encryption strength to use – RC2-64, RC2-128, AES-128 (8.0.1+), and AES-256(8.0.1+).

Starting in 8.01, an admin can specify a set of encryption strengths that the user is allowed to pick, or can even just mandate a single option and force the ID file to be automatically re-encrypted using the required encryption strength. So if your IT or legal department wants to prohibit some algorithms or require others, they can.
