When I upgraded to R6.5, it automagically put all my saved e-mail folders under “Folders”, so I have one additional click to reach everything that I use on a daily basis. That’s just slightly annoying.- I can see where that would be the default, and I have no problem with that. BUT I can not move my folders out of the “Folders” folder, to the main navigation area. THAT is the truely annoying thing.

Additionally, I don’t want “Junk Mail” to be a main folder. I don’t look at that every day; I actually have Rules that toast junk mail so I don’t have to look at it at all. I do look at and/or sort my Inbox into numerous other things that I’d vastly prefer to have at the level where “Junk Mail” is, and shift that one off to a sub-folder where it belongs.

Again, the default is not the issue. Like a mind-boggling array of things in Notes, there must be some default, and that’s fine. It’s the UTTER LACK of ability to change the default that is the actual issue. Why install drag and drop folder management it if can’t be used to modify the ENTIRE navigator?

What you are mentioning is just an outline which was put in that frame of the frameset. IF you have access to the design you can change the order of things. If you don’t have access to the design you can use the view goto to bypass the frameset. Plus if you just use a web browser to access it you will not have to work about the extra click to get the folders.
As to the drag and drop point, it works but it can not be scene when the deisgn has an embedded outline on a page acting as a navigator.

Thanks, Joe!- I was afraid of that … I have to tweak the actual Design to fix this mistake, so the next time I apply any upgrades everything will be hosed. Either I’ll have to re-tweak the upgraded design, or things will be messed up because I have a “modified” template.

Just like installing R6.5 totally raped my Inbox, because I had changed my column widths. Nothing else, just column widths, but it wasn’t the “default”, so wham … entire Inbox contents lost.

Actually and on the technical side, if you make a tweak of that element you can mark it to prohibit design refresh or you can point to a template with your custom code. Then if you happen to perform an upgrade you will not lose any code because it is pointing outside of the mail template.
There is nothing prohibiting users to have 99% of the database design to be from the mail template be used and have 1% point to a custom template.
What you are sighting is from the standpoint of manipulating the mail6.ntf file and an upgrade overwrites your modified file with that of the upgrade installation. If you are going to invest time to “fix” what you think needs to be fix for your organization, you should consider what I suggested (having the specific design element you tweaked to point a custom template).

But it’s a valid point, and one of the historically agonizing parts of supporting Notes, that if one wants to modify a system db template like mail or NAB and then have both your changes as well as future template improvements implemented, you have to manually apply your changes to the new template. I think that TeamStudio may provide a way to log and store template updates for easy future roll-in on the next template; that kind of feature would be awfully nice in native Notes, and I would imagine that Iris could iron out the wrinkles in its implementation.

But thus, that is why you can make things to have a prohibit design refresh. TeamStudio has a valid product but it really isn’t cost saving unless you have a big environment where change is done by multiple users.
Myself, I have moved away from Team Studio and just put my customization in a separate template and it has worked well.
