I have a user with hundreds of personal folders in his mailbox.
He uses these to file his mail that he keeps.
He creates new folders that don’t show the newest mail at the top by default. He goes in and customizes the view so that date is descending.
He wants to be able to set the root folder, and allow the change to trickle down to all the sub folders.
Is this possible?
It would be a nice addition in future versions of the client.
Subject: Can Customize This View be set to trickle down to sub views?
In ur folder name put in this formatMain\Folder1
Main\Folder2
Main\Folder3
Then u will see Main with a categorized twistie. Clicked on the categorized twistie will expand Folder 1,2,3

You can change the design of your root folder and create new/sub folders based on the root folder design.
You get the design propagated to all the sub folders. Hope this helps
Subject: Root folder?
Just some clarifications:1) There is no such thing as a root folder
-
You can make the folder appear in a hierarchy by using \ inside the name
-
The design of a new folder is inherited from the view or folder that is marked as “Default Design for new folders/views” in the Designer client. At creation time of a new folder this design is copied. Later alteration will not automatically be propagated
-
the default design element is the inbox (folder ($Inbox)
-
There is an agent in the mailfile that allows to propagate the current inbox design to all or selected folders
-
The design does not include the current sort order if that is only done in the client (via the user preferences) rather than designer.

Subject: user created folders in mailbox
OK,
Let me further explain this.
We have several mail users who process lots and lots of transactions a day through email.
These users have created folders in their mailbox files.
They have a “root” folder, and then several hundred folders and sub folders within this “root” folder.
These folders are all created with the Lotus Notes Client by the end user.
When these guys go in and create sub folders, the column sort is not always the same. I’ve got on cranky user in particular with literally a couple hundred folders.
He complains that each time he goes to create a new folder that he has to go to “customize this view” and set the date column so that it sorts decending.
Personally, it doesn’t seem like that big a deal to me to go in and set this.
However, it would be nice be able to set the columns and the sort order for the top level or “root” folder, and have a check box that could be clicked to propogate view customizations to sub folders.
I really don’t want to go in to individual mailboxes as an admin with a Domino Designer client to make these users happy.
Thanks for the responses.
