Can Crystal Reports do this?

We have a database we are trying to print some views of… the problem is the page margins. We can’t get less than a 1" top and bottom margin. (we are printing landscape - 2 pages per sheet)

so I was wondering if anyone who uses Crystal Reports has printed views like this and has been able to adjust the margins. I set up Crystal reports, and connected to Notes. then I see views and forms in a list but only a FEW. Is there a limit as to how many show up? I can’t seem to get to the view I want to print…?

Tips?

Ruth,Yes you could use Crystal Reports. However, Crystal Reports is a separate prioduct and the idea is taht you transfer data (either Native connection or ODBC) to it and it is used to create reports.

This is good when you want to schedule reports and have them produced in an automatic manner.

If you want to do add-hoc reporting why not use Notes to PDF? It will produce perfect reports in PDF format and is a lot less expensive than CR.

But can I get rid of the 1" margins?

Subject: Is that a 3rd party product? or…

How can I achieve this? Or do you just mean to save the Notes view as a PDF and manipulate margins then?

As a competitor, we had quite a good look at Crystal, and you bumped into one of its limitations. Integra for Notes utilises Word (and Excel) for reporting, allowing you very precize printing.

Printing views shouldn’t be so hard, and to be honest, it isn’t! On top of that we often notice that people actually don’t REALLY want to print views, but want to have proper reports showing the data in the database… (which MIGHT be in a view, but also might be only partly there, and in other forms and [sub!-]documents as well!).

Anyway, have a look at Integra for Notes (www.integra4notes.com), and if you have any questions, just drop us a line

Subject: Actually…the problem is the margins

we have already gone to great length to produce the views exactly as we want them printed… they look great… the ONLY problem is the top and bottom margins!.. they waste space - and we’re talking a difference of printing 25 LESS pages if we can reduce the margins…

I have never tried printing views through crystal reports, however did you try in lotus notes going to file|page setup and changing settings there. I can’t see how this would help in crystal reports, but maybe??

Subject: Hidden Margins

Jody,

Yes, I did (as I put in my other posts) I have reduced the top and bottom margins to 0" in the Page setup… there is a hidden margin somewhere that they aren’t letting us get to… ?
