Hi!
We have a following situation: A server has been installed in a new organization, /AAA. Now the client wants to recategorize their address book so that it will be divided into three different OU:s, /111/AAA ,/222/AAA and /333/AAA.
I have moved the users into the new OUs manually (don’t ask…) and created the certifiers for the new OUs. Now I can send an internet mail to a user which has not yet been moved (and so still resides in the /AAA organization). However, when I try to send mail to a user in the 111/AAA OU, I get “No route found to domain 111/AAA from server SERVER1/AAA. Check Server, Connection and Domain documents in the Domino Directory.”
I have verified that the directory contains correct canonical names for the problematic users. Also the name lookup is apparently working as the server tries to send the message to the 111/AAA domain.
The Global Domain document exists and contains all of the OUs.
What can I do to fix this? I’d REALLY appreciate the help!

first of all, 111/AAA is not a domain, as you reference in your description. 111 = OU and AAA= O. So what is the actual domain name? If the error message is stating "No route found to domain 111/AAA then there is something seriously wrong wiyth your setup. What value is in the MailDomain field on the person doc for the user you are trying to send mail to?

To add to Paul’s observation- if they were just OU’s- or even “O”'s - they just need to be on the same Notes Named Network to route - and generally that notes named network is TCP- and they would route as long as you can ping 111/aaa etc.Tom

Yes, I know it is not a domain. That is why I am talking about it as an Organizational Unit - except in the last paragraph, which apparently contains the results for me banging my head against the wall for eight hours straight while trying to figure this out…
I have tested this with the Domain field containing 111/AAA as well as just AAA, and in both cases the end result is the same.
All of these three OUs reside on the same physical Domino server. It receives internet mail just fine for three different domains. It just seems that it doesn’t know where to deliver the mail if the user is in an organizational unit (111/AAA) instead of just in the main organization (AAA).
And I am beginning to think that there is something seriously wrong with the setup - the thing is I’d very much like to know what, as the deadline for this is the next Monday…
Thanks again,

None of that belongs in the field called domain. The domain name belongs in the field called domain. When you open up a person document in the NAB/Directory, what value is in the field “Domain” under mail- that is what belongs in the domain field.Tom

I suppose this is a good place to say “Doh!” Of course it does - I don’t believe I missed that. That, and the fact that I had all of the Organizational Units listed in the Domino domains and aliases field in the Global Domain document.
But thanks to you guys it is now working. Getting some sleep probably didn’t hurt either
Thank you!

Work on a project tell your eyes are crossed?? Nope, I’ve never done that. NOT.

Re “The Global Domain document exists and contains all of the OUs.”
What do you mean by this? There is no place in the Global Domain document that should contain O’s or OU’s.
