Sorry for asking such a basic question. I have read a bit about Web Services and think the answer is yes. However, I am not sure and would like to be certain before I tell my boss.
We have an existing client application that will have to be replaced if we cannot integate it with a new third party system.
We will be going to Version 8.5 soon so if it is possible I will try it in the latest version.

As long as the server’s HTTP task is turned on, the web service is either anonymously accessible or the consumer is authenticated and authorized to use the service, and the database doesn’t prohibit opening by URL, yes.
