HiNeed to know if we can call documents in javascript functions. What I need to do is access the value of a notes document in the javascript function (This is a web application). Is this possible? If yes, then can anyone give me an example.
Appreciate any help.

If this is a web application, why did you select the “Notes Client” category?
Web JavaScript executes in the browser, running on the user’s computer. It does not have direct access to information in any Notes documents, which are stored on the server.
Java code can access Notes data remotely, provided it has a userID and password to authenticate with, or it could invoke web services running on a Domino server. So you could add a Java applet to the page and call its methods from JavaScript to get information.
Otherwise, JavaScript can use the web object model to read information from the pages open in browser windows.

Hi Sayali,
What do you intend to do? If you just simply want to access value from other documents maybe you can do the following:
-
create a hotspot button, put a name on it. e.g. getDocValue
-
make your hotspot button call an agent.
-
in your agent use lotusscript to get the document you want and put the value in your current document.
-
in your javascript command put the 'document.forms[0].getDocValue.click() to execute the hotspot button.
hope this helps…
