Our users like to be notified of impending appointments/meetings/reminders that have been entered into their calendars. But, when a notification occurs, it takes over everything. If you’re working in another application the Notes calendar reminder will push that application into the background.Does anyone know a way around this? Thank you in advance.

I escalated a Lotus PMR a few months ago on similar issue –
Lotus Technical Support has advised that there is no work around for this problem. There has been an enhancement request as of 09/17/04 to change this functionality.

Steps to reproduce inappropriate taking the focus:

Make a calendar entry with a notification that should trigger in the minute or so.

Work in Notes (i.e., type a memo) at the time the notification should appear. If you happen to type the space bar (intending for that key event to go to the task you were working on)immediately after the dialog box appears then the spacebar presses the done button on the dialog. The dialog disappears.
Enhancement requests:

Notification should not take the focus.

Notification should appear above all other windows. (it has been noticed that sometimes, when working in another application, the dialog box does not become visible.)

The notification window should be much, much smaller. It doesn’t need to be so large! The font displaying the subject of the notification should be larger with animation.
Lotus Technical Suport’s Workaround:
TOOLS - PREFERENCES - CALENDAR & TO DO - ALARMS - ENABLE/DISABLE ALARMS and then deselecting “Enable the display of alarm notifications” or associate .WAV sound for alarms.
