Is it possible to create a calendar view that shows documents from various other databases?

Not in the Notes client, no. You would need to have a database that contains all of the documents of interest. On the web, however, you can use a server-side agent (slow) or client-side JavaScript (“plain” or “Ajax” in a technique similar to: http://www.openntf.org/Projects/codebin/codebin.nsf/CodeByDate/768663B8E2671E1A86256F1400636AAC ).
