Calendar error the object's application or class is not available

One user out of fifty is having this problem. He is able to use mail without problem. As soon as he opens or creates a calendar item, it errors with “the object’s application or class is not available” and redisplays the calendar itself. iNotes works fine. The basic client exhibits the same problem. I’ve udated the app design, ran fixup and compact tasks. The mail app is not customized. Domino x64 8.5.1 FP2 on Windows x64 2003 SP2. Notes client 8.5.1 FP3 on Xp Pro Sp2. I’ve uninstalled, reinstalled Notes, and upgraded from FP2 to FP3 (problem existed on FP2). Any ideas? TIA

Subject: Could you verify that no design elements are marked as “Prohibit design refresh or replace to modify” ?

Make sure none of the design elements in the mail database have this option selected.

Subject: Check the design to make sure that there are no design elements prohibited from getting updated

We’ve seen times when there are some design elements that cannot be updated because they have the flag set to “Prohibit design refresh or replace to modify”. This can be determined at the view level by checking the column highlighted by the red box. If you find any elements that have the flag set, uncheck the property on all of them, then replace design again.

Subject: Fixed

I went through the entire db and removed any prohibit design update flags. Then recompiled scripts, updated the design and all is working. Thanks. If I’m using an unmodified version of the Notes mail template, how do these elements keep marked to prohibit design changes?

Subject: That’s good news

As for how the design elements are getting marked prohibit; I would check the replication log on the mail85.ntf on the server and start trying to track down where changes are being made to the template from there. Its likely someone is manually making these changes, however, the signature on the design element should update to whoever made the change so that may be helpful in tracking it down as well.
