By default Domino server discloses host name & version

Searched forums, many suggest adding following to notes.ini - SMTPGreeting=Server ESMTP Service is ready at %s

One way to do this is to issue the following commands.

Set Configuration “SMTPGreeting=Server ESMTP Service is ready at %s”

tell smtp update config

I have do this, but the server name and version are still being sent out in the headers of the messages.

Anyone else having problems hiding the platform information in SMTP emails?

Yes, the server information will still be sent in the headers of outgoing mail. The SMTP Greeting is to hide the information from incoming SMTP connections (or probes made to look like incoming SMTP connections).

set con SMTPNoVersionInRcvdHdr=1

it’s description is in the admin help.
