Bulk data

Hi…I have 1 lacs contact information in SQL server.I havemade a LN database for contact management system.I have to preapre data from SQL server. Now the question is :

a)if I populate all the data(nearly 1 lacs) in notes database from SQL server, whether lotus notes will permit to handle

the application to view ,search & print documents easily and promptly??

b)If above is allright then should I take simultaneous copy

of each document as and when document is further created or edited in Notes db to SQL server for precaution of Lotus Notes db corruption??

c)Alternatively can I access SQL server data without storing in

Notes db

Pls tell me what should I maintain and how??

Your good suggesstion will help me a lot.

Subject: Bulk data

Translation for those that don’t know. 1 lac = 100,000.

I think the answer will depend a lot on circumstances that we don’t know about.

Lotus Notes can cope with this many documents. When you have a lot of documents you have to ensure that the database is well written. For example avoid having lots of different views because updating view indices can impact on performance.

Unless there is a good reason otherwise, keep it simple.

If you have regular backups then there is no need to write updates to your SQL Server database whenever your Notes database is updated. However, if the RDMS is still being used in some way then this might be a requirement.

I would not recommend using the Notes database as a front-end with no data and host the data in SQL server. It is possible but you lose much of the benefit of Notes.
