Hi
I am bulding a some sort of portal database which will be an interface for existing notes databases. Can anyone tell me how to do the following :
-
I need to create a view that pull data from another database. I know that I can embed a database view but I wanted to also override the form formula (diplaying the data with another form)
-
I need to access view no 1 via action button. I knew that I can do that with outline but I need the drop down capabilities and so far only action button can simulate that.
Can anyone give me clue on how to achieve both requirement, especially no 2 ?

Hi,

Yes - you can do this by embedding a view in a page. To override the form formula - simply create another view eg. something like vwWebView2, and put a form formula in the form formula event of the view. That way the exisitng view will remain functional for what it does, and you have a new view for use in the way that tyou need it. I have a few designs which use this method.

The otuline also allows you to have drop downs via the web. You can access the view by using the open view command, which will be translated for the web if ‘Use Javascript when generating pages’ is selected in the db properties.

That is what I thought so.

Unfortunately this “portal” is to be viewed under Notes client. Our company has yet to migrate their database to web. Is there any way to create a Cascading Menu using outline in Notes Client ?
