Bug in Spell checker

I think I have found an odd bug with the spell checker…

DO NOT try this if you are doing anything important as you can not get out of the loop!

Ensure you are set to spell check emails before they are sent (Under Tools, Pref)

Compose an email message

in the body text, put two identical words - any two words. For example you you

Put an email address in the TO field

Click Send

The spell check will pickup on the duplicate words “you you”. Change this to “to you” and click Replace All

watch…

it get’s stuck in a loop and you can not terminate it.

REBOOT!

PS - Doesn’t happen on R5

At least it’s an entertaining bug to watch

You can break out of it without rebooting by using NotesMedic or similar. Task manager (if you’re on a Win32 platform) would probably also work, but I didn’t test that.

Task Manager can get you out of it, but you’ll have to do an ‘NSD -kill’ to get back into the client.

This seems to happen whenever the user chooses a spellchecking option that might generate a loop (like changing ‘ha’ into ‘ha ha’).
