If a user has their calendar options set to always be notified of a meeting, and someone sends them a meeting invitation with the notification set off, the user doesn’t receive notification. This, to me, is a bug.
Just because one user doesn’t want to be notified of meetings doesn’t mean that everyone that person invites should not get notified!
A invites B and C to a meeting for which A has set the alarm notification to 4 hours before. B and C accept the invitation. When B and C check the meeting entry in their own calendars, they find that the reminder has been set to their own default reminder time for meetings (in this case 15 minutes before), NOT the 4 hours before as set by A.
While I can see the logic for this, I can see just as much of an argument for having a “Force all invitees to use notification settings for this meeting” checkbox or something like it.
So, given this situation, I’m surprised that the “no notification” setting on the meeting invitation actually overrides the invitee defaults, because it plainly doesn’t in other situations.
