This problem seems to have occurred through all versions of R6. I have a user who has suddenly had 1800 emails reappear in his inbox. They are still showing in the Folders that they had been moved to.
Now I have searched the forum and run through all the suggestions that have been put forward and nothing changes.
I want to write an agent that will run through the all documents view and check if the document belongs to a folder and if it does then to remove it from the inbox.
My problem is that I do not understand how a document knows to be shown in a folder. I can`t find a field that has the UNId for the folder stamped in it.
Can anyone explain how a document shows in a folder and how I could go about writing an agent to fix this bug.
cheers Ed

I don’t think documents know which folders they are inI think the folders know which documents they contain

How do the folders know what documents that they contain. where is the information stored on the folder.

Refs to the documents are stored in the allentries property of a folder

That would mean creating an agent that would go through every folder in the database, and then checking each one of the entries from the allentries property against each entry in the Inbox.
Is there not an easier way.

Well, can you think of one?Given that the only place these refs exist is in each folder?
How about putting all the refs from the folder into one array, inboxRefs, and all the refs from the inbox in another, folderRefs, then using some simple notes @functions to check
e.g.
(You’ll need to slap the appropriate evaluate(||) statements around these)
inboxDropped:=@replace(inboxRefs;folderRefs;“####”);
inboxDocsInFolder:=@trim(@replace(inboxRefs;inboxDropped))
Now inboxDocsInFolder contains all the refs in both inbox & folder
