Hi, I have a travel requisition database in which approvers receive an email when a request is submitted. And they approve the request from the email itself. Now the urgent requirement is to enhance the database such that the approvers can approve the request from their blackberry devices also when they receive the email.
Has anyone implemented something similar to this? Any pointers that will heelp in this direction will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Not sure if this will work for you or would even be in your budget…We use an application from Aeroprise to allow our field techs to updated Remedy (BMC Software, Inc) tickets via our Blackberry handhelds.

I found some samples on the Blackberry website that talks about adding Menu Items to the blackberry application. Does anyone know if it extends to the Notes mail viewed on the blackberry. Is it possible to add custom menu items like Approve/Reject to capture the action from the email itself?

Did you find any workaround for this ?.. I need to do something very similar… aprove/reject from mail on the blackberries…
Thanks !

I’ve moved in this direction by taking applications (or, at least, approval) to the web. The Blackberries we’ve got here are sufficiently recent that they’ve got decent web browsers, which reduces the problem to one of web design. The important thing here is to build a very bare-bones interface so as not to overrun the screen or overload the thin connection or the low capacity of the browser.

THanks for your response. But the management’s preference at this point is not to go to the browser as it is currently very slow with the blackberry they have. Also, they are mailed in the Travel Request and are used to approving it right there. So need to provide something similiar to that. Has anyone implemented this type of approval from blackberry?
Thanks.

I have not implamented but have heard about using a mail in database that they can forward the email into with a approved or rejected subject line in which an agent run every five min will take action and set the status on the requisition. Of course this will rquire alot of strict formating in the email.

Thanks for your response. I was also thinking along the same lines as the email client for the blackberry is not customizable. You cannot add buttons or special labels to it. Is anyone has implemented something similar to this, please let me know.
