Subject: Not sure I agree…

I don’t see what IBM would get out of this other than to upset Apple. If that’s the play, so be it, but I just don’t see where acquiring RIM fits into IBM’s strategic direction. IBM has been divesting itself of non-core hardware products, not adding them to its portfolio. Since there is already reasonably tight integration between Blackberries and IBM’s application suite, I’m not seeing where this acquisition really fills any gaps.
