Blackberry Enterprise Server and new Domino server

Hi,

My vendor told us it is recommanded to setup a new domino server (can route int/external mail) to adopt blackberry solution for a company.

Our company already has a domino mail server.

Is it necessary to setup a new domino server? Is it a common practice?

BES 4.0, Domino Server 6.5, ~300 users, ~concurrent 10 users

how many blackberry users? it depends on BB load, if you are going to have 10-50 users there is real no need for dedicated domino server for BES… if you plan to have 100-200 BB devices then BES might affect performance of notes server.The only other disadvantage of not having another domino server dedicated for BES is when you need to troubleshoot BES issues that requires reboot then you rebooting mail server.

We will have around 300 BB users and approx 10-15 concurrent BB users, I think the load is not heavy.

Actually, we have dedicated a new server for BES.

Is it necessary to install BES on a server with Domino server installed?

Can the BES installed on a separate machine w/o Domino svr and remote monitor on a Domino server?

Yes it is necessary to install BES on a server with Domino server installed, because the BES installation process will not work if the it does not find a domino server on the server.

After the installation, a new task is added to the domino server addins tasks called DBES
