We had a user who was trying to copy and paste text from a document in Word XP. Every time she tried pasting the text, the client would crash out. She had a 7.02 client, so I had her send me the Word document. I have an 8.00 client, and the same thing happened.
Through poking around, we found that there was a table at the very end of the document. If we didn’t copy that table, the paste would go successfully.
It didn’t matter what NSF we tried… I created a new mail memo and tried pasting it in, it blew out just the same.
Creating a new Word document doesn’t help. Copy and paste the text to a new blank Word file, saving it, and copying and pasting the table crashed.
Another Word user edited the file, removing a bookmark link AT THE TOP (nowhere near the table at the end of the document) that cited some object, they didn’t say what, and the entire text of the Word file was now copyable and pastable.
Anybody else ever run into this? I couldn’t find this anywhere on the site here as a known problem, but if it’s existed since 7.02 I have to assume it also occurred in 6.5x.
