Dear All,
I have a corrupted archive copy of nsf which is 2.5 GB.
Tried all tasks including fixup, updall, compact with all switches/options… but not working…
When i tried to open, it is giving the error
“The notes database file header is corrupted”.
I searched throuhgout internet, but none of solutions working…
This is the major drawback in lotus… I have kept more than 2000 mails in my archive… no solution for this???
If anyone suggest in this, it will be great…
Thanks in advance
Madhavan

Clearly you do a system restore from your backup… Right!
It’s not like your hard drive could every fail… That’s why we make backups

Did you try making a new copy?
(File\Database\New copy - not a new replica or a file system copy as these wouldn’t help with corruption issues)

The issue is likely to be the file format under the Database not the databses as a whole. A new copy could fix this. If not try and move the DB to a network share and try and access it there. Make sure you have OS access to the DB and that it is not READ ONLY.
p.s on a lighter note I got real excited about someone telling me about the Biggest drawback of lotus Notes.
Something Bigger the Replication
Something more important that Offline maintenance.
Even bigger that the fact that Domino clustering is not in anyway true clustering.

Hi all,
I am unable to make copy of the database… even i can’t bookmark the icon in workspace. It is a archive copy, so no backup.
I copied the database to server and tried to create the copy using console commands… but that too failed…
Anyother way to recover my archive…?
Subject: RE: biggest drawback of lotus
Hi All,I am also facing the same prblm, my notes local archive nsf file got corrupted due to a HDD crash. I could recover 1.8 gig out of 2 gig of that .nsf file with the help of some recovery software. But Lotus notes is not able to open this file, it says “The notes database file header is corrupted”.
Can someone please share a solution - how to open this recovered .nsf file.
PS: Madhavan, since our problem is almost same, please let me know if you have resolved yours. Kindly share your email id if you can share details offline.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Kapil,
Till now we have not got the solution to this on lotus point of view.
Onething you can do that: keep your archive in central folder in some shared server and create the directory link from lotus admin client and create program document to run maintanence task like fixup, compact and updall.
Dear All,
Any other solution to recover the file???
