I have installed beta 2 on 3 Macs, all of which were running beta 1. One installation had errors, but completed the install and is working. One completed the install without errors but exits Notes after the password prompt. The other had the installation fail with the “postflight script error”. Any suggestions on how to debug/repair to get beta 2 working?
Subject: More info needed
Hi Ed,
Did you have Beta 1 on any of the machines that aren’t working, and did you uninstall before reinstalling this beta 2? I have seen this error if an upgrade is attempted instead of an uninstall and reinstall.
Please run the supplied uninstaller on the machines that are not working and reinstall Notes. Let me know if this resolves the issue. If not, we’ll request specific log files.
Thanks,
Sarah
Subject: Beta 2 reinstall
Thanks for the fast reply. On the Mac that would prompt for login and then exit, I ran the uninstall and reinstalled Beta 2. This did fix the problem. This Mac had been running Beta 1. The Mac with the “postflight script error” had an existing 7.03 client installed. Running uninstall after the failed Beta 2 install did not allow for Beta 2 to reinstall.
Subject: Thanks for your feedback, could you pls provide more information?
For the first issue,“On the Mac that would prompt for login and then exit”,it is a know issue tracked by SPR YDAI7HPA8V
For the second issue,“postflight script error”. Could you please kindly have a look which scenario was yours?
1.Installed 7.03 notes client firstly, without uninstall it then reinstall Beta 2 on 7.03 ,then got a “postflight script error”
2.Installed beta 1 notes client firstly, without uninstall it then reinstall Beta 2 on beta 1,then got a “postflight script error”
Here is a possible workaround for the “postflight script error”
1.Running Uninstaller firstly
2.Rename your Lotus Notes Data folder ~/Library/Application Support/Lotus Notes Data
3.Rename notes.ini, on Mac, it is ~/Library/Preferences/Notes Preferences
4.Reinstall Beta 2
If this reinstall still failed,Could you please kindly provide some logs.
1.the install log when running Installer ,you can get it from the Installer menu “Window”->“Installer Log”
- After installation is finished,Did the directory “~/Library/Application Support/Lotus Notes Data/Expeditor/Applications/logs” generate? If yes ,please compress these log files and attach them.
3.Open your Mac’s “System Preferences”,click to “International”->“Formats”
,what is your set on “Region”?
Subject: Log files for failed install
I ran the del8.sh file from an earlier post in this forum. The beta 2 install is still not working. I am attaching the log files from the most recent attempt to install.

If the installation still failed, could you please provide the following different logs.
1.Please compress the directory /tmp and attach it
