Our company has been bought by a larger one that contains multiple divisions. We are the only one using Domino (now 6.5!). A couple other divisions are unhappy with their current messaging system, and are willing to move to Domino.
We are planning to create a notes domain for our parent company, with OUs for each division (and merge ours as a new OU under the new parent).
The question is how to design our directories to make it easy for users to find the email addresses they want.
Normally, when composing an email, a user should be able to use type ahead, and type ahead should show only users in their local OU. And when they pull down the address dialog, by default they should search by name in their local division. Only if they want to look in another division, or in the company overall, should they see names outside their local OU.
Problem is: when you pull down the address dialog, you see everyone in all OUs when you look by name in the Domino directory. If you look by Notes Name Hierarchy, you cannot search by user name.
How do large organizations handle this? Surely others have found a good solution.
Thanks for any suggestions!
