I am about to change my email and lotus notes setup to have a Cyrus email server and a Lotus notes server. Here is what I am trying to do. Right now I have the below setup.
I have a Postfix+cyrus+Vexira anti-virus+spamassassin email server on the internet.
I have an internal Lotus Notes 5.0.13 server.
Neither one of them talk to each other so you either get internal Lotus Notes or you Thunderbird for internet email. This means my users have to have both on their PC’s
This is the scenario I would like to set up.
First, I am migrating my Domino server to 7.0.2 on Suse Linux. That part is easy
Second,I want to keep both servers. The reason for this is I want to keep my licensing costs down. For all Lotus people who are reading this, ignore the previous statement about licensing. I want to have users that have just plain old email or for users that have to use the Lotus Notes applications, I want them to be able to get both their internet email and internal email to come to them through lotus notes.
So I am figuring I would have this setup.
A postfix relay box running postfix+spamassassin+Vexira antivirus that would direct email either to the lotus notes server for people who will keep lotus notes or the postfix-cyrus email server for email for communications to employees who don’t need the notes applications.
There are several challenges I need to address.
For the users that will have all their email migrated to Lotus notes: How do I get their historical cyrus email into Lotus notes?
For both type of users, how do I set up the relay to either send the email to the Lotus notes server or the cyrus-postfix box?
How do I set up authentication so this can be done? Do I use LDAP?
