Hello,
When I was working in my previous company I developed a Lotus Notes database. Now I am working to a different company.
There has been a request from my previous company to do some modification to database which I developed for them. There suggest they could give a replica copy of this database, in which I could do all modifications and send them back?
We have Lotus Notes in my current company as well.
Can you guys suggest best possible way to do this task please?
I am bit confused whether I could use my present user ID for development etc?
All comments are highly appreciated.

Do your own domino server setup in your machine ( including server) create some test ids , develop the code, sign in with your test id and send them. Be more faithful to your present employer .Don’t reveal your id. At the end don’t forget to charge them 
next time at least they will think twice to assign you a job.

Yes I own current Domino server setup. I got the replica version of database and when I try to open it in my current Lotus Notes enviornment, I got a message as " You are not authorised to open this database"
Should I ask my previous user ID from earlier company to open this database?
If so how do I incorporate that ID with present set up? Is there something like recertifying ID ???
Please advice.

Mira,
Ask them to set “manager” access in the acl. detach template in data directory . Hope you have created sample id , add your id in ACL . Open administrator , sign your template and start working .

As long as you have the databse in the data directory of your Domino server you should be able to access the database if you enable Full Access Administration on the server.
To do this ensure that your current user is listed in the ’ Full Acces Administrators ’ field of the Security tab of the server document (requires a restart to take affect).
Once your name is added to this field you can navigate to Administration > Full Access Administration while in the Administrator client. This will grant you proper access to open the database and modify th ACL.

Thank you both Rishi and Clinton.I did what mentioned by Clinton, added my user a/c to Full Access Administration, then by keeping database in Domino/data folder, given Database ACL rights through server admin document…
Now I can open this database.
so in this situation, I hope I just need to do what ever modification and send database back to them?? Is that Ok? or should I send any of current ID’s??

Should I create a sample ID ( using my current Domino server ) and sent it to them?

OR should they create a sample user from their Domino server and give manager access to this user??
If so when they send that userID should I open DB with it??

There are two options for you,
1- Ask them to create one sample id for you , get the id and password. Ask them to cross certify you and access their application from there server itself.
2- Just get the template from them, Set up your own server, create your own test id for your server. Add that test id on the nsf which they have given you . Start working after signing the database. Once done , cut the template send them by mail.
