Hi, I am basically self-taught in Notes and am now working alone so don’t have a team to bounce ideas off, and my lack of knowledge is becoming a problem! Does anyone have suggestions of a definitive reference book, or site, that addresses answers to fairly simple questions? (eg how can users sign-in to sites without having lotus accounts, how can I set a chat site, etc). I live in England and use 6.5.3.
I find this site is good, but I’m never sure I’m going to get an answer or that I’m even asking the right questions.

Hi shane,Good you r the techer yourself. If you are working in any company than you might know the person who has no lotus id he cannot sign in.Yes you can do one thing you make one group id and give six to ten person,in this way all will gst sign in.
For chat there is "sometime connect "in lotusnote facilite .you can active this and chat with the person have lotus account.both have to active it than add person name and chat.

Try http://www.experts-exchange.com , it’s pretty good and theres a few very knowledgable peope there who will help you out. For books, QUE and SAMS do good guides, expect to pay around 40 quid for a decent book. The trouble with this forum is it gets bogged down with junk from people smoking illegal substances, and then telling you to get a bible.
Subject: My favorite part is where he appears to be recommending minimizing licensing costs by registering one ID and sharing it across multiple users.

One of the best resources that I’ve found is other Notes developers blogs. Getting involved in the DomBlog community allows you to find deveopers with certain areas of expertise that you can usually get help from. I have found that stroking ego’s with polite grovelling and profuse thanks goes a long way.
Just keep in mind that no one is going to do your work for you but most are more than willing to share their code. It’s up to you to apply it to your situation.
I love the " have found that stroking ego’s with polite grovelling and profuse thanks goes a long way." comment
But the sentiment is right. We don’t want to write the code for you, but most of the blogging community is more than willing to help out. I would also recommend the Notes FAQ at Lotus Notes/Domino FAQ
