Basic Mail Clustering setup question

Greetings,

I have a basic mail clustering question. I am looking to setup clustering for our mail servers for failover. My question is, do I create the mailfile replicas 1st then create the cluster or do I create the cluster 1st then create the replicas? I have been reading the Admin helpfile, but it doesn’t mention as to which should be done 1st. I only have 1 mail server and am only setting up 1 additional server for the cluster.

Any other tip/tricks that you have would be greatly appreciated.

I have always create the replicas before making the cluster.You can do the replicas with the dedicated link between your servers to not disturb the LAN, and load several replica tasks.

It doesn’t really matter. A cluster will replicate all databases in common and won’t work until both steps are completed. Won’t hurt anything either way.
