Basic Concepts of Domino Administration

Hi! I’m learning administration of Lotus Domino 8.0.1 where I work, but I feel like I’m still struggling with basic concepts like certification. I haven’t been able to find a real thorough explanation of these things, and that’s why I turn to this forum for help.

If anyone could give me a link I would be very helpful.

Subject: We have distance learning courses for Domino admin

We have you actually setup a test environment and have lots of activities to give you hands on experience.

Subject: Usually people go to classroom for this.

Sorry, I don’t have more for you. I am developer, but if you would be an Admin at one of my bigger customer places, I would try to get a bunch of hours out of the projects, to give you the basics.

You may try to get a hold on training materials for the certifications and look up things you don’t know in the Help file of the Admin client (which is better, than what a lot of people would guess)

Subject: That’s what I suspected

Me and co-worker are supposed to take courses in about a month, but until then we’re pretty much on our own.

With a little help of other co-workers and the information center we can manage certain things, but when we don’t understand why something work/doesn’t work and no one around to explain it it gets a little frustrating.

I guess we’ll just have to manage until we take courses, and then, perhaps, we can write our own introduction.

Subject: Keap an eye on the wikis, too and IBM website - not sure if they cover what you need

Actually there is some support documents in knowledge base (Part of IBM Support search) covering chapters like what you ask, because sometimes IBM Support needs to get focused 2 or 3 pages of stuff out to have a customer understand.

Subject: Have you read the security redbooks?

There are links to the security-related redbooks and redpapers off the Lotus Security homepage:
