BACKUP for DOMINO 6

I have backup exec v9 and the latest domino agent. I am very disappointed to find out how backing up and restoring for domino works. It seems that you cannot select the indiidual email you want to restore but rather you have to restore the ENTIRE database. Meanwhile you have deleted all work from the time of the last backup. Is there a better product out there?

I think CommVault Galaxy can do this as well. Pricy, but if you want it, you can pay for it.

Why do you need to restore a single email? - in my experience it is because it has been accidentally deleted. Why not use the soft delete function? Extend the number of hours that they remain in the trash folder to at least a week and ideally two or more weeks and I have found it covers most of the needs for an individual email restore.

What we have done in that situation (when we wanted to retrieve ONE message) is to restore it to another location (like a folder called recover), place the DB in there, find the message we want and copy and paste it.

and then look at products like IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Mail.http://www-3.ibm.com/software/tivoli/products/storage-mgr-mail/

Check this out:ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/tivoli/brochures/br-storage-mgr-mail-domino.pdf

It mentions “document-level recovery”.
