Hi!I am writting a script on postopen database event of user’s mail database. I want to envoke a background agent from another local database when user opens his mail database. I have written an agent on local database and enabled property “Run in background client thread”. When I test this agent from action menu, it works fine and I am able to open other notes windows at the same time (i.e. agent runs on background). However if I call this agent from postopen event of mail database, it does not run on background and it stops other notes process until agent has finished execution.
An Notes 6.x agent that has the “Run in Background Client Thread” property enabled runs in the foreground instead of in the background as expected. This occurs in cases where the agent is triggered using the LotusScript Run method (of the NotesAgent class) from either another agent or an event. The issue also occurs when the agent is triggered using a Simple Action.
With local databases the issue is also observed with the RunOnServer method (of the NotesAgent class).
Solution
This issue has been reported to Lotus Software Quality Engineering.
Workaround:
As applicable, use the @Command RunAgent or ToolsRunMacro to run the agent.
