We used to start the Lotus Notes Client automatically by an external application in order to print Lotus Notes documents. To do this, we used to open the Lotus Notes client print dialog and send a print job to the system. This was made automatically by a service and used to work in Lotus Notes 5.X.
When using the Lotus Notes 6.X client, if we set the “Allow Service to Interact with Desktop” option off, we are not able to send a print command to the Lotus Notes Dialog by an external application. It does not recognize a return posted to the dialog and the printing task never starts.
But, if you set the service option “Allow Service to Interact with Desktop” on, then it is possible to open the print dialog and post a return, starting the printing job. It works fine in this case…
Does anybody know what have changed in the print dialog/mechanism that is making it impossible to send an automatic print task to the lotus notes client by an external application when to the interaction with desktop is off? Should any workaround be suggested to this situation?
