I work from the office using a desk top and use Lotus notes 6.5.1 . I also have another desktop at home on which the Lotus 6.5.1 is installed. I use the broadband line and VPN for connecting to the office server while working on lotus notes from home. The home PC has been configured so that whenever I am working from home the mail from the server keeps getting replicated automatically on my HDD.Some how I have not been able to configure the office PC for automatic replication to my local HDD. Therefore presently I use the manual process of copying all the mail from the server and then pasting same in the replica on the HDD. Can someone help me in configuring the office PC for automatic replication from server to local HDD.
Pls help.
Subject: Automatic Mail replication
Why do you want a local replica on a machine that is always in the office? If you have an MIS department, you should probably consult them on this. There may be a very good reason for preventing local replicas on your office machine. (Examples: they want you getting mail live on the server so it arrives in a timely manner OR you use a thin client and shouldn’t keep stuff local, etc.)
Instead of copy/pasting, for manual replication you should be going to the replicator page and clicking “Start”. But at this point, if that works, you’re going to end up with a lot of duplicates.
Otherwise… Get rid of the current local replica to prevent those duplications. Open your mailfile on the server and do File>Replication>New Replica and create a new local replica of your mailfile. Then go File>Mobile>Edit current location and click on the replication tab. Here is where you can enable scheduled (automatic) replication and set the schedule. I DO NOT recommend setting it for something like “Every 10 minutes”. This is just abusive to the machine/connection. Set it to replicate every couple of hours.
