I have a field that is a combobox and it’s populated by the column of a view. Is there a way of getting the field to give an autocomplete option? I would like to be able to have the user type in not just one letter to scroll down, but more than one.
Is this possible, or a fantasy?
Thanks in advance!

Possible, but you’d need to code a custom javascript function for the OnKeyDown event of the Select field.
The function would need to append the character represented by the pressed key to a stored variable, and then loop through all of the options in the select looking for a partial match and set the selectedindex accordingly. For brownie points the backspace key should probably reduce the string by one, and you’d probably want to reset the variable if nothing is typed in a while.
Actually you are in luck, just searched for OnKeyDown and Options before clicking Post and someone has already done the hard graft:

Rufus.

Thanks for the reply.
Yeah, just struggling with this code now. Looks like it’s almost there, but not quite. I will see if it can be forced to work for the combobox but it’s a good starting point anyway.
I will post if I can get it to work with amended code.
Cheers!

No dice. Can’t seem to wedge it in there. The best it can do is the same as what Notes func can already do, which is find the first letter of what you type in the list.
How frustrating!
Anybody have any other ideas?
