Auto forward mail without mailbox rule?

Is it possible for me to set up automatic e-mail forwarding (to an external account) for a user without using a mailbox rule?

The users in question are iNotes clients, and my attempt at using a “Send Copy To” rule in their mailboxes resulted in the same iNotes errors other folks in this forum have reported. There seems to be an unresolved bug in this functionality.

These users have been using home-based e-mail accounts until now, and as I’m transitioning them to new e-mail accounts on our system, they need to be able to get mail in both places.

I know there is a “forwarding address” field in the Person document, but I’ve never been able to get it to work for a user who actually has a Notes mailbox as well. Should I be able to do this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Subject: auto forward mail without mailbox rule?

I have on a few mailfiles an agent written to forward any new message to another address. This way the Notes mail file and the other mail box will have a copy of the message.

Thanks Krista!

I don’t know why it never occurred to me to write my own agent. Thanks for the suggestion.

Subject: Forwarding Agent

The agent example in the Notes Client help for forwarding makes the recipient default to the user that received the message not the actual sender. Is there any way around this?

Much appreciated!
