I transferred Lotus Notes to a new machine for a user. Before the move, the user could auto complete addresses both inside and outside. Now that she is on the new machine, she can only auto complete inside. Does anyone have an idea on why this would happen?? I copied everything over without making any new changes. Once the new system was installed, it didn’t use her old address book as a default; instead it pointed to a new address book. Once I pulled the old one up, it still didn’t make a difference. Please help!!

what do you mean, “pulled the old one up”? did you replace the new names.nsf with her old one?

Did you add the name of the old address book in…Preferences>user preferences… Mail tab… General…
Add the old name in with the new names.nsf (use comma to separate)
might work…

Yes, I replaced the names file. When you go into the data file under Lotus Notes, you can double click on the names file and it will bring up the address book. I don’t quite understand what it is doing.

doesn’t sound to me like you really “replaced” the file. You’d need to close Lotus Notes, delete the new names.nsf file from the data directory, copy the old names.nsf to the data directory (do not change the file name) then launch Lotus Notes. The client will now be able to use the file and the internet addresses should show up.
You can also just open the old address book, copy all of the contacts from it into the new address book.
Or, as the other person who repsonded suggests, you can cascade the old address book on the client by adding it in user preferences on the mail tab: local address books:
names.nsf, oldnames.nsf
restart the client and you can now use the contacts from both the old and the new address books.
