Author Field interfering with agent function

Users wanted only the author of a document to be able to edit their own documents, so I instituted an Author field on the documents. It is a discussion database and they want the users to be able to rate the usefulness of the ideas shared. The rating systems are actions on a view that trigger agents that set a value on the document to create an overall rating. Now that I have added the Author field to the documents, only the author of the document can rate the document that they created. No one else can use the actions to trigger the agents to apply a rating. Is there a way to maintain the Authors field functionality, while allowing other users to rate a document that they did not create?

You can use the agent property run on behalf of to set the agent to run with the id of someone who has edit access to the document.

That will work  Thanks for the advice. This has been a huge help. BLW

you probably want to use a controlled access section (CAS) to allow only the Autor to edit the info in the CAS. Then you can have your “rating” fields outside the CAS so the readers of the doc can rate them.
