Lotus guys (and Lotus iNotes Web Access users/admins), if you see this, I just installed the MS Security Update 824145.
I have IE 5.5 SP2 and had 828750 update running fine. After I installed 824145 on Thursday 12/4/03 I received the infamous “iNotes Warning” message when going to my Inbox. Today, I uninstalled 824145, rebooted, and accessed iNotes just fine. I then reinstalled 824145, rebooted, and again received the “iNotes Warning” message.
I will also report this to support line - hopefully Lotus can work with Microsoft to get this fixed. Just letting everyone know that there may also be a potential problem with the MS Security Update 824145 with other browsers as well. It has been out since 11/12/03, so I hope others are not having this problem.
Just upgraded 8 mail servers Late Monday (into Tuesday) - received reports about same problem with SOME mail files today. Help desk documented browser version as 5.5 for 2 of the 4, I had same problem using IE6 - with Q824145. I am able to access other test mail files using same browser. I am able to access the affected mail files via Notes 6.5 client.
Exact message:
iNotes Warning
Problem: - Invalid or nonexistent document
Solution: Click here to refresh your browser.
The ‘Refresh’ did not fix the problem.
Only SOME mail files on only one server. 3 of 4 affected were set up originally as IMAP / POP users. IMAP / POP are disabled to limit SMTP traffic after wave of viruses with SMTP engines.
We do have a custom mail template - mainly just skips the welcome page to save time. I did replace the updated iNotes5 template with our old R5 iNotes5 custom template. It does work for most people and works fine for newly created (test) users.
Refreshing db design did not help. I will try replacing design of the mail file, then replacing mail file, then recreating the users - allowing update of existing users. If none of that fixes, I’ll restore!
If more than a few are involed, using the convert utility should accomplish the same thing. (Use server_restricted=1 if using convert for all mail files)
I need R5 (iNotes5) for now, but replaced design with Extended Mail R6, then replaced again with iNotes5.ntf. Able to log in fine via browser.
