Attachments Not Visible in Outlook

Since our upgrade to ND6, attachments are consistently not visible to the Outlook users that receive our emails. The message size and a italicized text in the message indicate an attachment is present, but when they open the email, there are no visible attachments.

Any thoughts?

Tony, I have the opposite problem. We are a Notes shop acquired by an Outlook shop, so we are half and half at the moment. Dave Notes sends an attachment to Scott Outlook. Scott forwards it to Melinda Notes and she doesn’t get it. Any ideas? Thanks.

PS this stupid check-mark to get an email for responses to my posts doesn’t work, so if you would email me, I’d appreciate it.

I installed Outlook to test a private account and here’s what I found…

When the preview pane is open in Outlook and an email is opened that contains an attachment, the attachments are NOT visible. Italicized text indicates that an attachment exists. If the user Saves the email (File->Save), closes the email, and re-opens…the attachments magically appear!

If the preview pane is not open, the email opens with the attachments as expected.

My concern is that our customers claim that this behavior is not present when receiving attachments from other senders (most likely not using Notes / Domino).

On the Server Doc → Mime Tab → Conversion Options ->Outbound

The Message Content field was set to “from Notes to Plain Text to HTML.” When I changed to just “Notes to Plain Text,” attachments started appearing. The side-effect is…the pass-thru HTML in my emails go out as plain text.

There is a security setting in Outlook that will hide some attachments (for your safety of course), Microsoft snuck that in with some recent upgrade code, you have to go into the Outlook setup and turn it off.Steve

Sounds like that SHOULD take care of it…but I am unhappy to report that it didn’t. I just had some friends barrage me with attachments from Hotmail accounts, other Outlook clients and even a Netscape Mail Client. Sorry to say that only attachments sent with a Notes Client produce these results.

try to change the “format for messages that are addressed to internet addresses” on the mail tab of your location document from notes richt text to MIME.
