I had a user complaining that emails from a vendor were coming in without attachments. I checked to make sure that they weren’t being stripped out.
I checked the “Page Source” and there is encoding for the attachment and the size backs that up. BUT the Notes inbox doesn’t have the paperclip indicator.
Viewing the users mail db in my client I could see the attached file and could open the attachment. On his I could not. I compared preferences and found that “Show inline mime images as attachments” was disabled. Once enabled his client could see the attachments as well. “Page Source” indicated that the vendor was using Thunderbird (possibly on a MAC) to send the messages.
Further testing Thunderbird, I can see the attachments with “Show Inline…” enabled. With it disable, I see the attached file as an inline image.
Has anyone seen this before? Is there something I can do at the router level to change this behavior? Or is there something we can tell the vendor to do?
Right now, I’ve enabled “Show Inline…” and instructed my user that even though Notes doesn’t indicate an attachment, it’s there and can be opened and/or saved.
