Attachments disappear or change when editting and saving mail

Hi,

We just upgraded from Lotus Notes 6.5.1 to 8.5.1 and we have the following issue in a group mailbox: The users that work in this mailbox (8.5.1-design) change the subject of the mail that they have worked on to let eachother know who took care of that particular mail.

In general this is no problem, but in the case where the mail is:

  1. Coming from an Outlook (2003) client that sents the mail internaly via IMAP\POP3 via de Domino server (8.5.2) to this mailbox.

  2. Containing an attachment

then above procedure (changing the subject and save the mail) leads to either disappearance of the attachment, or the name of the attachment changes to ATTY8EC5.doc or something like that. In case of disappaerance the $FILE item is gone, in case of the changed name the original filename is lost. Also the MIME code in the body field disappears.

Exactly the same kind of mails did not and still don´t cause any problems in a Lotus 6.5.1 client.

We use the 8.5.1 FP2 client on Citrix, behaviour also occurs outside Citrix.

Currently I am advising the users to drag mails that they finished with to a folder, but I am curious what causes this…

What´s the huge change in handling attachments in compare with a Lotus 6.5.1 client???

Subject: I have the same issue

A few users share a common mail db and they also go in and edit the subject line to let each other know who is working on what. All of the emails in this db have attachments in the messages. This only happens every once in a while (1x a month or so). The messages are coming from an online form. I’m not sure where it’s designed or what it’s using but this does not happen to all of the messages coming from that form.

The user typically edits the document, makes changes to the subject line only, saves the document… and the attachment icon disappears. If they open the message, the attachment at no longer exists in the message.

We’re running 8.5.1 clients with 8.5.2FP1 Domino server.
