I have received a few complaints regarding attachments from previous emails suddenly appearing in a new memo or reply whereas the attachment from a previous email is in the protected text area and the icon of the attachment is different to a usual attachment (similar to the UserID file icon in the Domino Directory).
Has anyone come across this problem and any idea why this is happening and how to prevent it from happening?
Do you mean attachments that appear at the very bottom of the email under a horizontal line rather than in-line with the text in the body of the email, and they just look like a grey box instead of the application icon?
That usually means the attachment has become disassociated with whatever was anchoring it to the rich text field. That was how attachments used to appear in older versions.
If you mean something else, can you provide more detail or description?
The problem is the attachment is being attached to a new memo or reply from another email which can be a big problem when customers are receiving attachments which were previously sent to another customer.
It seems to happen randomly. Sometimes with reply or forward.
It has also happened using Stationery however when it happened with the stationery it had overwritten the stationery and included the attachment from a previously sent email in the protected text area. I don’t think you can edit a stationery, only save a new stationery so no clue how it has done this.
Currently using Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.1. I have thought about if it is the anti-virus program causing this issue however as the problem isn’t frequent enough and is happening to random people I am unable to disable the anti-virus.
