Attachment Icon Generic, not Associated Application

I posted this a few hours ago, but it disappeared, for some reason…

When I attach files with Version 6.5.4, the icon of the attachment is generic, not application specific. The problem is intermittent, in that sometimes it works, but mostly it doesn’t. In particular, it doesn’t seem to like PDF files very much. Anyone with a similar problem and a solution??

Subject: It’s a known issue.

If the full path name of the attachment plus attachment name is less than 255 characters it will show the right icon, longer and it shows the generic one.

This was a bug introduced in 6.5.4, IBM are aware of the issue.

Internally, the rendering of the attachments changed radically. This was because in earlier versions, atts belonging to MIME messages were not rendered properly.

Can you reproduce this problem in all cases? Maybe in MIME messages? To see if a message is MIME, the “Body” field (in the field properties) should not be “RichText”.

The problem is very inconsistent. I had the problem again a few minutes ago. I exited the program and came back later. I could not get the problem to occur again. When I had the issue the first time, I attached a PDF file as a response to an incoming e-mail from the Internet…generic icon appeared. Later, when I restarted the program, replying again to the same message produced the Adobe PDF icon with no problem. Generating a new message also performed correctly with a Word attachment. It is very inconsistent. I cannot determine a pattern. The same thing happens on my home and office workstation, so it is not some machine dependent issue, so far. You mentioned attachments are handled differently with this revision. Things were just fine before for me.

Weird because all other 6.54 clients have the correct icon and this 1 machine doesnt. No matter if they attach a zip word or excel file they never show the icon.

On incoming messages with attachments the icon shows up fine its just when she creates a new memo.

You think 6.54 FP1 fixed this issue?
