Attachment has been modified or corrupted since signed

We are facing at the moment a very strange problem regarding attachments:

On of ourn products (90 Projects | 2 databases per project) is rolled out in customer environment with following scenario:

a) 4 replicas on german application servers (Servers 01.DE; 02.DE; 03.DE; 04.DE)

b) Replicas on german Hub Servers (Servers 01.de.Hub, 02.de.hub, 03.de.hub)

1 Server in Dubai (Servers 01.ae)

1 Server in Sweden (Server 01.se)#

  • 1 server in an external domain running domino 7.04 FP 1

The german hub and application servers are all running Version 8.5.1 Fixpack 24 with a 64Bit Version and DAOS enabled. All other servers are running 8.5.1 FP 6 with a 32Bit Version.

Our ptroblem: During the last weeks attachment went corrupt on the german application servers. If you try to open the attachments, the error message:

Attachment has been modified or corrupted since signed. Could not save to file…

This does not happen on all documents, only few.

Strange: The same document and attachments are available on hub, sweden and dubai server. You can open the attachments without any problem => The attachment corruption does not seem to be replicated to the other servers, even not to local replicas.

We checked the virus scan log files, there seems to be no problem.

We removed the replicas on 2 application server (01.DE and 02.DE) yesterday.

Result:

  • All attachments went corrupt on first application server

  • A lot of attachments went corrupt on second server.

Has anyone had the same problem?

Could it be the combination of 64BIT and 32BIT Versions?

Is it a problem with DAOS?

(Additional information: The ODS Version of the DB on the german application servers is 51 => on the sweden and dubai server the ODS is 43)

Thanks a lot if anybody has an idea?

Subject: Just guessing, but DAOS is probably your problem.

There were many problems with DAOS recently and a CF was just released:

Subject: DAOS is the problem

DAOS is the problem!!! IBM is at the moment writing a hotfix to solve it…

Subject: Thanks, please keep us informed!

Subject: IBM / Lotus fixed it

After long time of testing, fixing etc… the problem is fixed with SPR # SRIO83LSTW fixed in 8.5.1 FP3 release: In a PULL replication operation, if both sides are 8.5.1 or newer, and the destination has DAOS enabled, and there is a successful DAOS exploitation clone operation, subsequent attachments will be truncated. This regression was introduced in 8.5.1.

Yeah, after ten years, the first Lotus Notes Bug I discovered :-))
