Whenever I try to attach a document that resides within a folder, by clicking on the paperclip icon, the entire folder is inserted into the message as opposed to allowing me to expand the folder and select the document. Is this normal? I can drag and drop an attachment into an email, though.

What paperclip icon are you talking about? The toolbar icon in the rich text editing tools of the Notes client? I have no such problem. In fact, the file attachment format of Notes doesn’t even support the attachment of a folder, that I know of. Are you sure you don’t actually have a zip file there?
