Associate the user's status for a meeting

Can we associate the user’s status for a meeting object item?

I want to set the user status as Free/Busy/Out Of Office when he has a meeting. The user’s status can be set in Outlook, is it configurable in Lotus Notes too?

Subject: Clarify what status (re: associate the user’s status for a meeting)

Your use of the term ‘user status’ is a little unclear in your question.

From the context, I think you’re referring to a user’s calendar Availability, which is driven automatically from their calendar entries. By default, when creating a meeting, appointment or all-day event on their calendar, that time period becomes Busy for the user, unless they override it manually to keep it available (aka, Mark Available or Pencil-in). However, there are only two states for Availability in Notes - free and busy.

Now when a user sets up their Out of Office response feature, they can choose to have the corresponding period marked as Unavailable (busy) on their calendar, but there is no Out of Office state.

Another possible “user status” is Sametime awareness, where a user marks themselves as Available, Away, Busy or Do Not Disturb for instant messaging. This is not directly tied to calendar entries however, and must be managed by the user manually.

Hope this helps,
