Installing R6 on AS/400 is really easy, read this redbook.

I did it 6 times since January 1st 2003 without any trouble. Fresh installs and R5 to R6 upgrades.

Watch out for the backup, everything resides in the IFS, be sure you backup the IFS !

Best advice I can offer when installing on iseries is to pay close attention to the PRE REQS.

Don’t skip on any of the iseries software pre -reqs or PTFs. It might be a bit of a pain going through all of these but it’s necessary.
