Articles in the Technical Articles Library

Is it just me, or are the articles posted in the Technical library these days, of less value than they used to be?

I used to derive a lot of value from them, but nowadays they seem to focus more on prodcuts that we do not use?

Comments?

As the author of the most recent useless article, I’d like to respond.

DeveloperWorks can only publish what is submitted to them, and then only if it meets their standards for length and quality. I spoke to the editor this morning, and he says he would be delighted to publish articles about Notes/Domino if anyone would submit some. They pay pretty well. This is your chance to redress the deficiency by submitting an article!

A recent dearth of Domino articles may indicate that the Domino development staff have been too busy with 7.0 development to write articles. But articles from outside are welcome.

By the way, I want to encourage you not to be too Domino-provincial. You might consider reading these articles about products you don’t use, to see whether you have any use for them.

I think your article was quite good, but there has been a number Rational Test* tools articles which I think were not that good amongst other articles. By the way a PDF version of an article would be useful as in the past. I submitted that on the feedback box at the end but it does not seem like anyone reads that. I agree on not being too Domino-provincial and surely there are other technologies like Workplace, SameTime, QuickPlace, Domino.Doc which are surely underdocumented and would be good if we could get more on those as well.

I didn’t say they were useless, just of less value.

I agree about keeping our options open, but we have invested a lot of time, money and effort into our Domino infrastructure and I am always looking to extract more value whereaver possible. The recent articles are not helping me achieve that.

How would you advise we get more good Domino articles? Like I said, we’re open to outside submissions.
