I have been instructed to have the domino server to purge all documents older than 180 days on the lotus server (Email Purge Policy).
All the users have been instructed to archive to their local workstations in order to keep any important documents (this is working fine)
The problem is on the sever side. When we schedule the compact mail -a -j command to purge the mail db’s I keep getting the error that “server-based archiving is not enabled”… I have searched repeatably and found links describing acl issues and i have triple checked this issue and its fine. The only way to fix the problems is open every persons archive settings and change the “archiving should be done on” setting from local to the mail server.
But what i don’t get is the policy, why have so many check boxes to enforce the policy and to over ride the client settings if it doesn’t matter??
I have also thought that maybe the server could just run a custom agent weekly to just purge all emails older than the specified window… Not that good at this… might need some help.
